2008

This final term of 2008 our PD has focused on ongoing teacher personal PD in the following areas: Mimio Interactive Whiteboards use and development of pages; Web page and class wiki updates; imbedding sound and video files into Power Point; Inquiry planning; Shortcuts with Word and Publisher; website links to useful programmes; downloading music from internet to CDs.

During Term 3 we had our ERO visit and were thrilled with the results especially seeing that one of our focus areas was around the integration of ICT in all curriculum areas. It verified that the commitment shown by teachers within the ICT Contract and in their own ongoing PD really made a difference to student achievement.

During Term 2 we continued to develop our pedagogy around the Inquiry Process and the integration of ICT into all curriculum areas and we chose to make this one of our focus areas for our ERO Review held in Week 3 of Term 3. With unexpected roll growth we have employed one more teacher full time and another teacher for mornings only. This has meant that class sizes can remain small giving teachers the opportunity for personalising learning for all our students.

In Term One of 2008 we really worked on our use of ICT in the classrooms and a PTA night on ICT gave us the opportunity to show how we use ICT to enhance the children's learning. All classes are using their overhead data projectors well and teachers are all learning how to use the Mimio Interactive Systems (Interactive Whiteboard systems) in Term Two.
